Southern Tea Cakes
1 Cup Shortening
1 3/4 Cups Sugar
2 Eggs
3 Cups Flour
2 teas. Watkins
Baking Powder
1/2 teas. Salt
1 teas. Watkins
Nutmeg
1/2 Cup Milk
Powdered Sugar
Cream together shortening and sugar until fluffy. Beat in
eggs one at a time. In another bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg.
Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Turn dough onto a floured board. Roll out
1/4-inch thick. Cut into rounds with a cookie cutter. Place on greased baking sheets. Bake
at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar.
