Sour Cream Nutmeg Softies
4 Cups Flour
1 teas. Baking Soda
1 teas. Watkins
Nutmeg
1/2 teas. Salt
1/2 Cup Butter
1/2 Cup Shortening
1 1/2 Cups Sugar
1 Egg
1 8 oz. Sour Cream
1 teas. Watkins Vanilla
Stir together flour, soda, nutmeg, and salt. Set aside.
In large bowl beat butter and shortening till soft. Add sugar and beat till fluffy. Add
egg, sour cream, and vanilla and beat until mixed. Add flour to mix and beat well.
Cover dough and refrigerate several hours. On floured
surface, roll 1/3 of dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut in to shapes. Do the same to the
rest of the dough. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 minutes. Frost when cool.
Frosting:
2 Cups Powdered Sugar
1/2 teas. Watkins Vanilla
1-2 Tbsp. Milk, as needed
Mix sugar and vanilla together. Add milk 1 tbsp. at a
time to make a spreadable consistency.
