Spiced Apple Muffins

These wonderful muffins will make your kitchen smell heavenly. The combination of Watkins Apple Bake Seasoning, Watkins Pumpkin Pie Spice and Watkins Ground Cloves makes the difference. If you've never cooked with Watkins pure spices before you are in for a real treat!

2 Tbsp. / 30 ml brown sugar
1/4 teas. / 1.2 ml Watkins Apple Bake Seasoning
1/8 teas. / 0.6 ml Watkins Pumpkin Pie Spice
1 Cup / 250 ml Whole-Wheat Pastry Flour
1/2 cup / 125 ml All-Purpose Flour
1 Cup / 250 ml Bran-Flakes Cereal
1 Tbsp. / 15 ml Watkins Baking Powder
1/2 teas. / 2.5 ml Baking Soda
1 1/2 teas. / 7.5 ml Watkins Apple Bake Seasoning
1/2 teas. / 2.5 ml Watkins Ground Cloves
1 1/4 Cups / 300 ml Applesauce
4 Egg Whites
1/3 Cup / 80 ml Honey
2 Tbsp. / 30mL Watkins Original Grapeseed Oil
1 medium Granny Smith apple, peeled and shredded

Preheat oven to 425F. Coat 12 muffin cups with Watkins Cooking Spray. In small bowl or cup, mix together brown sugar, 1/4 tsp. Apple Bake Seasoning and Pumpkin Pie Spice. Set aside. In large bowl, combine flours, cereal, baking powder, baking soda, 1 1/2 tsp. Apple Bake Seasoning and cloves. In medium bowl, whisk together applesauce, egg whites, honey and grapeseed oil. Stir in apples. Pour over flour and spice mixture. Stir with a rubber spatula until the flour is just moistened; do not over mix. Divide the batter among the muffin cups. Sprinkle each muffin with brown sugar and spice mixture. Bake for 20 minutes. Makes 12 muffins.
